Copyright refers to the protection of all rights granted by the law to the author for the created works. As long as the creation of the work is completed, it is automatically protected by the copyright law. It does not need to be registered or registered with any agency or organization, and it does not need to be published. No name or pseudonym is required when a work is published.

 

The main purpose of copyright is to protect the author's rights to creations, and at the same time to encourage people's creativity and further promote the progress of human culture.

Copyright protection

  • According to Article 10 of Taiwan's Copyright Law, "the author shall enjoy the copyright when the work is completed", and registration, certification, and disclosure are not necessary protection conditions.

  • The rights currently protected by copyright include: the right of reproduction, the right of public speaking, the right of public broadcasting, the right of public screening, the right of public performance, the right of public transmission, the right of public display, the right of modification, the right of editing, the right of distribution and the right of rental.

  • At present, copyrights are divided into "property rights of copyrights" and "personal rights of copyrights".

  • Types of copyright include: (one)Chinese works; ( 2) Music works; ( 3) Drama and dance works; ( 4) Art works; ( 5) Photographic works; ( 6) Graphic works; ( 7) Audio-visual works; ( 8) Audio recording works; ( 9) Architecture works; ( 10) Computer programming works.

  • Works may also include: (1) derivative works; (2)Edited works; (3) Co-authored works.

According to Article 9 of the Copyright Law : "The following subparagraphs shall not be the subject of copyright: 1. Constitution, laws, orders or official documents. 2. Translations or edits made by central or local authorities of the works in the preceding paragraph. 3. Slogans and general Symbols, nouns, formulas, tables of numbers, tables, books or calendars. 4. Language works composed solely for news reports to convey facts. 5. Various types of examination questions and their alternate examination questions held by law. The first paragraph of the preceding paragraph The term “official documents” referred to in this subsection includes proclamations, speeches, press releases and other documents drafted by civil servants in their duties.”

How to register copyright

Although the copyright is the right that exists when the work is completed, we and the Taiwan Economic and Technological Development Research Institute, a consortium legal person, are registered as copyright agents, and can be registered to obtain a certificate of deposit for use when needed.
